Specialized Community —Morrow Center

The Holy Angels SCR center provides round-the-clock care for children who are medically fragile with severe/profound mental retardation and have multiple physical disabilities. Children living in our Morrow Center participate in a holistic, innovative program, which includes special education, physical therapy, speech, creative arts therapy, medical care, recreation and opportunities for spiritual experiences.

The SCR center provides basic health care, treatment, and developmental training for children with mental retardation in an environment outside their own homes and over an extended period of time. The SCR has a trained teaching staff and specially developed educational materials and equipment to provide innovative programs - within a classroom setting - for students with special needs.

Children who live at the SCR range in age from birth to 18 years. At left, one youngster uses fingerpaint to create his handprints with a little assistance from a helping hand. The Holy Angels administrative offices are also located in the SCR or Morrow Center.

On Dec. 20, 2004, our 49th Anniversary and Maria's 49th birthday, Holy Angels dedicated and renamed the Main Center where SCR is located, "Morrow Center," in honor of Maria Morrow, the remarkable woman who was the first resident of Holy Angels. At that time, a new garden in the center of Morrow Center was dedicated as well. The garden, appropriately called "The Garden of Angels," is in loving memory of Mother Mary Benignus Hoban and Sister Marie Patrice Manley, foundresses of Holy Angels, as well as in memory of our previous residents, family members, friends and benefactors who have passed away. Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens designed the beautiful garden, which contains a variety of blooming plants and a fountain. It serves as a place of solice and quiet reflection for residents, staff, volunteers and families.
