God’s love and kindness will shine upon us like the sun that rises in the sky.

Nora enjoying a heartfelt moment with her grandmother, Kelly.

Dear friends,

As spring fills our days with warmth and sunshine, I am reminded of the blessings of our exceptional residents who provide us with so much love and joy. I am excited to share with you a story that embodies the beauty of resilience and the transformative power of love - the story of Nora, affectionately known as “Sunshine.”

Nora’s journey began much like the promise of a blossoming sunflower, embracing the light from the sun. Yet, her path took an unexpected turn soon after birth with the onset of spinal meningitis, casting a shadow of uncertainty over her future. Despite facing profound brain trauma in those early days, Nora’s resilience shined brightly. It was then that her grandmother, Kelly, first gave her the nickname, “Sunshine.”

Kelly devoted herself wholeheartedly to Nora, but those first few years were difficult. The missed milestones, unending medical appointments and ill-equipped daycares for Nora all took its toll. Kelly resorted to taking her granddaughter to work, hiding Nora under her desk. Kelly found herself helpless and hopeless. That is when she discovered Holy Angels.

For Kelly, Holy Angels is more than just a sanctuary: it is a home. A family filled with a team of compassionate caregivers who love her beautiful granddaughter.

Kelly told us God’s intervention brought her and Nora to Holy Angels. We agree and feel blessed we are able to serve Nora and her family.

Nora painted using watercolors and a handover-hand technique with her grandmother, Kelly.

The sunflower symbolizes divine light radiating positivity and hope. We hope you see this card and feel the joy coming from these sunflowers created by the hands of our “Sunshine.”

It is because of your dedicated support that stories like Nora and Kelly’s are made possible. As we embrace the renewal of spring, I invite you to be the sunshine for those in need, spreading warmth and joy to all who become a part of our family.

To all who have graced us with your kindness and support, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your compassion has not only brightened our days but has illuminated the path for Nora and countless others.

With heartfelt sincerity
