We hope you’ll join us for the Opening Reception event Thursday, May 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bliss Gallery, 25 N. Main Street, Belmont, NC.

Bliss Gallery is proud to present Perspectives in Color, a vibrant new exhibit celebrating the dynamic work of local artists Jill Meeks (@jill.meeks) and Dorothy Lodge (@dotlodge), both board members of the Gaston County Art Guild. Their work explores the power of color, emotion, and movement through a variety of expressive styles and mediums.

This exciting show also features art by resident artists Cheryl, Maria, Amy, Taylor, Mary Ellen, Lorraine, and Chris, whose vibrant works are a joyful expression of their talents. Creating art offers meaningful purpose and personal fulfillment, while supporting an arts program that enriches the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Join us for the Opening Reception on May 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, and experience this stunning collection firsthand.

“Under Carolina Skies” features Gaston County Art Guild En Plein Air painters from April 3 through May 10. The term “En Plein Air” comes from the French phrase meaning "in the open air." This method became especially popular with the Impressionists, who sought to capture natural light, atmosphere, and fleeting moments in their work.

En Plein Air artists work quickly to capture the changing conditions of light, weather, and movement in nature using portable materials, such as easels, lightweight canvases, and a limited palette of paints, making it easier to travel and paint on location. The approach emphasizes spontaneity, direct observation, and a connection to the environment.

This exhibition features artwork created by Holy Angels resident artists Tom, Cheryl, Mike, Elise, Lorraine, and Chris.

This special exhibition features incredible pieces from guest artists Anne Cowie, Regina Bos, and Teri Fridley, alongside stunning artwork created by the talented residents of Holy Angels including Mary Ellen, Mike, Maria, Tom, Amy, James, Drew, Elise and Taylor.

  • Anne Cowie – Calligraphy, abstract art, and mixed media with sewn elements. Winner of Best in Show at the 2022 Visual Harvest Art Show at Gaston College.

  • Regina Bos – Specializes in encaustic work, bringing texture and depth to her nature-inspired pieces.

  • Teri Fridley – Works extensively with paper, creating intricate and textured compositions.
