Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is an integral part of each resident’s activities of daily living and help to ensure the safety and overall health of our residents. Licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina, all therapists in the department work closely with members of the interdisciplinary team to provide such services as spa therapy, splinting, positioning on adaptive equipment, and one-on-one therapy to promote independence. Orthopedic clinics are coordinated with physicians from Charlotte and Gastonia.

Recreation
Recreation Therapy at Holy Angels is used to enrich the quality of life for the residents we serve – through fun activities including enjoying the great outdoors at Camp Hope, our recreational facility, to enhance the health, well being and social skills of our residents.

Speech Therapy
Speech-Language Therapy at Holy Angels focuses on helping each resident reach their communication potential and interact with the people in their life including their family, peers, and care givers. Using a total communication approach, all forms of verbal and nonverbal communication are taught and encouraged including vocalizations, gestures, sign language, picture symbols and technology. Speech-Language Pathology also serves residents with swallowing disorders to improve safe oral eating when appropriate.

Adaptive Technologies
Speech therapy uses a variety of technology including the iPad, speech output devices, and EyePoint technology to allow residents to more independently communicate and interact in their environment.
