Donor Spotlight: The Grose Family’s Legacy of Love

Maya Angelou once said, “Your legacy is every life you touch.” Richard and Elizabeth “Lib” Grose led lives of impact, generosity and kindness—touching so many others in the process. They first learned of Holy Angels through news articles written by Kays Gary, and then directly through the Sisters of Mercy who became regular customers at their convenience store.

Lib shared with us that the first donation she and her husband gave to Holy Angels was $100 from the proceeds of their store. Over the years, they developed a close relationship with Mother Benignus—a cofounder of Holy Angels—and Richard promised her if they made a profit from the sale of their home they would donate to Holy Angels. True to his word, he donated $15,000 which was used to purchase the first Holy Angels van to transport residents.

After Richard passed, Lib continued her loving support of Holy Angels—attending Christmas Mass each year and talking with staff over lunch to catch up on current projects, and ask about about new residents. She was always excited to hear how busy we were. Lib passed away Christmas Eve of 2024 and left Holy Angels a legacy of love that will continue to have ripple effects on many lives—both for our current and future residents of Holy Angels.

The foundation of Holy Angels was built on the generosity and kindness of others—leaving a legacy of love. You too can continue to have an impact on the lives of others for years to come by leaving a legacy gift to Holy Angels.
