Holy Angels Honors Rob Hinman with 2025 Legacy of Love Award

BELMONT, N.C., November 2025 — Holy Angels proudly presented the 2025 Legacy of Love Award to longtime supporter and former board chair Rob Hinman during the nonprofit’s 70th Anniversary Gala, held November 8 at The Revelry at Camp North End in Charlotte.

Since 2016, the Legacy of Love Award has honored individuals whose dedication and compassion have left a lasting impact on Holy Angels and the people it serves – individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and delicate medical conditions. Hinman was recognized for his 26 years of faithful service on the Holy Angels Board of Directors, including six years as chair, and for the steady leadership and heartfelt commitment that have marked his decades of involvement with the organization.

Hinman’s relationship with Holy Angels began through Medical Director Emeritus Dr. Ellis Fisher, who introduced him to the mission in the 1990s. Not long after his first visit to the organization’s campus, Hinman joined the board and became a guiding force in the growth and stability of Holy Angels. His leadership was instrumental during several key moments in the organization’s history, including the transition in executive leadership from President Emeritus Regina Moody to current CEO Kerri Massey.

“Rob’s calm presence and deep faith have been a true blessing to Holy Angels and to me personally,” said Massey. “He embodies servant leadership in every sense. His love for this mission and the people we serve has left a lasting imprint on our organization.”

Hinman, who served as a pastor for 35 years, has dedicated his life to ministry, family, and service to others. His compassion for individuals with disabilities was instilled early by his father, Dr. Allan Hinman, who worked with young people with special needs. Even as an Eagle Scout, Rob’s service project centered on supporting children with disabilities—a passion that has continued throughout his life.

Guided by his favorite scripture, Romans 8:28—“We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”—Hinman’s purpose has always been clear: to serve others with grace and humility.

When informed of the recognition, Hinman humbly requested that the focus remain on the mission rather than himself, saying, “Don’t talk about Rob Hinman—talk about how Holy Angels shows the love of God.”

“Rob’s years of service, his leadership, and the countless ways he has given his time and his heart are a true reflection of God’s love in action,” Massey said.

Now retired from full-time ministry, Hinman continues to preach, teach, and serve. He and his wife, Ginger, have been married for 40 years and are proud parents and grandparents who continue to share their faith and love with all who know them.

The Legacy of Love Award presentation was part of Holy Angels’ 70th Anniversary Gala, which celebrated seven decades of compassionate care for individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities and delicate medical conditions.
