NBC Charlotte Features Holy Angels Spring Plant Sale
/In early May, Holy Angels welcomed guests to the Community Garden Greenhouse to shop a vibrant variety of flowers, herbs, vegetables and hanging baskets—all grown and cared for by Holy Angels residents.
All proceeds benefit the horticulture therapy program at Holy Angels, which offers hands-on gardening and learning opportunities for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities and delicate medical conditions.
“The Spring Plant Sale is a great reflection of what we do at Holy Angels. Our residents love getting their hands in the dirt and being part of the growing process through our horticulture therapy program—it’s meaningful, enriching, and a lot of fun,” said Kerri Massey, president and CEO. “We love welcoming the community to our campus to see the residents’ hard work in full bloom. This sale allows us to share their talents and grow support for our programs at the same time.”
We’re grateful to NBC Charlotte’s Larry Sprinkle for visiting us to share this feature story, which included Ed Brodgen, our director of horticulture therapy, and one of our residents, Mike. Thank you Larry, for sharing our story!
