Where Ability Meets Opportunity: Inside Holy Angels Sponsored Businesses with PBS Charlotte
/At Holy Angels, our sponsored businesses are about so much more than great food, thoughtful gifts or sweet treats. They are places where our residents step into meaningful employment, build confidence and share their talents with the world.
Each day, these spaces become opportunities for connection — not just for our residents, but for the entire Belmont community. Here, work is more than a task. It’s a chance to be seen, to contribute and to belong. And what makes it even more special is how our neighbors respond. Time and again, our community shows up with encouragement, patience and genuine care, creating an environment where our residents are not only supported, but celebrated.
In a recent feature by PBS Charlotte, you’ll get a closer look at what makes these businesses so meaningful. You’ll meet Mary Ellen, a resident who shares the joy she finds in her work at the Cotton Candy Factory. You’ll go behind the scenes at Cherubs Café to see the preparation and teamwork that happen each day on the line. You’ll catch a glimpse of the resident-made creations available at Market on Main, each piece reflecting care, creativity and pride. And you’ll visit Life Choices, our day program where residents and community participants learn, grow and develop vocational skills that open doors to new possibilities.
These moments tell a bigger story — one where ability is recognized, opportunities are created and dignity is lived out in real ways. It’s a story made possible by a community that believes in our mission and chooses to be part of it.
We invite you to take a few minutes to watch the full feature and see firsthand what these businesses mean to our residents and to Holy Angels.
