Splashes Coming Soon: Building An Accessible Indoor Pool

When Maria, our very first resident, experienced a swimming pool for the first time, her response was simple and unforgettable – “I’m free!” This year, as we honor what would have been her 70th birthday, we are proud to carry forward her legacy of freedom with the Children’s Campus Expansion pool.

Thanks to the generous support of Giving with Grace Foundation, Order of Malta and Speedway Children’s Charities, this dream is becoming a reality. The pool will offer our residents opportunities for leisure, relaxation and recreation alongside one another and their families.

Designed with accessibility and safety at its core, the saltwater pool will feature a ramp for residents with mobility challenges and specialized equipment to ensure everyone can enter and enjoy the water comfortably and safely. Bright, cheerful colors bring the outdoors in, while playful portholes evoke ocean vessels.

Long-time supporters Robin and Jack Salzman of Giving with Grace shared, “When we heard about the expansion and that a pool was part of the plans, we immediately said this is perfect for us. Pools hold a special place in our hearts, especially for Jack, an avid swimmer since childhood, and we are honored to help bring this kind of joy and freedom to the residents of Holy Angels.”

About Holy Angels: Now entering its 70th year, Holy Angels, Inc. provides medical services and specialized therapies, residential living, special education, creative arts and spiritual opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and delicate medical conditions.
